I was bullied a few years back, and I guess it made me pretty mistrustful of people.. because before then I used to have best friends and I was a lot more outgoing/talkative. But now (I'm 17) I've become a lot quieter and tend to go my own way a lot, and have difficulty opening up to people about any problems I have. I do have a group of friends and school but none of them I can really talk to about anything as I get anxious they might secretly not like me or be annoyed by me.. so I'm very quiet even around them and as a result I'm not close to any of them anymore. This makes me get pretty depressed and I want to change but it's hard just amending your personality.. I'm hoping that when I go to university next year I'll be able to make new friends easier but I dunno..

any advice??

I feel the same way, and I thought the same thing.  But going to college didn't change anything for me.  It really is hard to become more open, but were just introverted people.  Thats not a bad thing, you really know yourself and focus on more serious things.  Do you enjoy one on one conversation with people you know better than group conversation with a lot of people you don't know?
