Hi All, Lately I have been really interested in researching for the studying abroad program my school offers. The countries I am interested in are: 1) Rome, 2) London, or 3) Hawaii. Anyways, the question I have is, I have a BF of 2 years. I dont know if I should ask him to go with me or not. At first, the whole reason I wanted to study abroad was to meet new people and have a once in a life time opportunity to explore the world, to be away from him for a bit. Now, that im thinking about it, im not sure what to do. If I want to take time from him for a while, or ask him to go with me. Has anyone asked there significant other to go on a study abroad trip or no? I would like to know what you think I should do.

Ive had a similar situation like this when i went with my church to Mexico.. I told my bf the reason why i wanted to go was to help ppl and meet new ppl.. but when i got there.. it was cool to be with different ppl but i missed the comfort of a close friend.. so i dunno/ i would bring em' and then if you get sick of seeing each other.. just separate or a bit

Hmm... well first of all. Hawaii is not a country. Second, I think you should take this time apart. That may sound very definate but if you two go together you are going to only have eachother and most likely at least one of you is going to end up clinging to the other one and you aren't going to get the full, enriching experience that you could otherwise. My ex-boyfriend and I moved out of state and went to the same college (not a study abroad but still away from home... I wasn't dating anyone when I did my actual study abroad fortunately) and we were so isolated our first year here. When you do a study abroad it often takes a lot of courage to branch out and having him there will make that less likely. If you two are meant to be together then you will get together again when you get back. Take this time for yourself. Your still young, have an adventure alone before you get tied down for good and don't have that opportunity.
