I'm sure that this has been done before, but what do y'alls parents do for a living? Are you interested in what they do, and if so, do you feel it is because they do it?

I'll go first
My dad used to be a geologist at Washington St. University, and I am interested in it, because of him. But now he works for Volvo (not the car company, the equipment company) and I am interested in machinery because of him. My mom has always been a stay at home mom (until recently) and how is a human rersources person for our local school district. I am not interested in it.

Edit: Oh, fyi, although both my parents have college degrees, neither of their current careers require college degrees.

My dad's a food and beverage manager at a casino and my mom owns a beauty salon. I'm SO not interested in what they do, college education FTW.

My dad is a roofer and my mom used to be an accountant, but since her heart attack, she hasn't been able to do much.

I'm not interested in roofs...
And not even interested in number crunching.

I'm actually in the middle of college, majoring in Graphic Design.

My dad is a respitory therapist at our local hospital.
My mom works at a convienant store.

And I don't want to end up like either one of them.  95% of my entire family background on all sides, is or was in the medical field. And I hate hospitals with a passion, as does my siblings and cousins. So all of us went/are going into the arts.
I am aspiring to be a successful book editor and author in either LA or Seattle.

neither of may parents have college degrees, and my mom doesn't even have a high school diploma nor a ged.

that being said, it goes without saying really that they work shitty jobs that they don't like but have to do to get money. they do pretty well with what they've got, though.

Nah, my dad was here for a few years before I was born as like a foreign TA that became a teacher. When we moved to the US, he taught there while we still lived in Spizzokompton (only an hour away). And yes people live there!

Edit: 'Spizzokompton' is Spokane, Wa, for all you non-Northwesterners.

Both my parents are doctors.

I love science, but I absolutely HATE anything that is in the medical field. When I was 5, my dad used to take me into the emergency room and say, "Look at this guy, all his limbs are torn off and he's still alive!" I think they ruined my chances of being a doctor.

Wow, you must be so rich lol.
I'd love to have parents that were both doctors.
