Okay, I'm asking cause of something my mom said.

Is it at all possible to start dilating, as in the cervex opening I think, before you're supposed to go into labor? My mom said she's been hurting a lot in the last couple of days and she went to go get it checked out at this clinic by her house and the lady there said that she had started to dilate.

What the heck, is there a reason for it to do this? And I mean, what can happen to her? The baby's already going to go through shit, it doesn't need to come two months early.

Please don't stop, it's lonely at the top. These lonely days, when
will they ever stop? This doomsday clock ticking in my heart.

It can be normal for there to be dilation, even early on. A lot of women are dilated up to 3 cms for weeks on end. The cervix can also dilate and then close up again. She may be 2 or 3 cms today and 0 cms in a day or two.

Premature Labor Signs and Symptoms

   * A contraction every 10 minutes or more often within one hour (five or more uterine contractions in an hour)
   * Watery fluid leaking from your vagina (could indicate that your water bag is broken)
   * Menstrual-like cramps
   * Low, dull backache
   * Pelvic pressure that feels like the baby is pushing down
   * Abdominal cramps that may occur with or without diarrhea
   * Unusual or sudden increase of vaginal discharge
   * Blood from your vagina

At around 8 weeks early though it's not such a problem. Babies are considered "term" at 36 weeks and most are able to be born at that point without any problems. They can now save most babies born as early as 22-23 weeks. :-) Even if s/he came tonight, she might have to spend a couple weeks in NICU but the chance of serious prematurity issues is small.

It is possible to dialate early. Is she stressed out? Stress will cause an early birth. But the dialation does come somewhat early....2 months early is possibly a sign of complications. I hope she is seeking medical assiatance soon. If her water hasn't broken then then right now that is a good sign.

Its possible and most likely nothing to worry about. Women can dilate some for weeks before actually giving birth and sometimes the cervix retracts again after dialation.

it is very possible. That doesnt mean that she will dialate good two months early. It was hard for me to dialate. I was in labor for a month...not active labor though because I wasnt dialated enough to be in active labor. So tell her to lay down and dont eat fresh pineapples. No bubble baths either. At least thats what I heard.
