I really haven't experienced much of a gap. The only difference I really see between my mother and I is the fact that the woman can't use a cell phone to save her life. Beyond that, her views are very similar to mine, while my views are very similar to my peers.

*blinks* My mother raised me and she's not a baby boomer. Actually, she's as liberal as the best of them. I believe that WE are in control right now. Who gives a shit what the old folks have to say. With all due respect, of course.
A lot of baby boomers (like my parents) were liberal hippies.
And liberalism is at it's highest peak since the 70's. I think that's the point the OP was trying to get across. So, problem? I see none. There are still more conservative baby boomers. Most of them, actually.
yeah, and who do you think those 70's liberals were? The baby boomers.
BABY BOOMERS=A WHOLE LOT OF THEM. They weren't all hippies. A lot of them WERE conservative. And then, a lot of those hippies got older and became conservative.

Not necessarily, I read a study somewhere that people actually become more liberal with age. I mean it depends on where they're from and stuff I suppose, if they're from the Midwest probably going to be more conservative, it depends on where you go. I think the reason they've imposed the insane amount of rules on us (minors have less than half the rights of convicted felons) is because they don't know what it's like to not be able to buy cigarettes because of your age, or to have all these other rules, and the media is different now so they think the world is "more dangerous"(it's actually safer in America) and they're trying to protect us in the wrong way. And yeah.

From personal experience, I've seen people get more conservative with age. Especially in this day and age. But I do agree, it does depend on where you go. I for one, live in a red state. So obviously people will be more conservative here. And I also agree about them thinking we live in more dangerous times. As dangerous as it is now, I don't think a lot of older people like to put themselves in our situation. They think we have it made, when in all honesty, as much "freedom" we have, we have just as many rules.

anecdotes are useless when making broad generalizations. Violent rime rates were considerably higher in their day, they're just buying into the media machine now that they've figured out how to make tons of money off their fears. We have nicer things with technology and we have it easier overall I'd say, but definitely less freedoms.
