We'll see, I guess. The thing about elections is that you need to have some sort of faith in the candidates. It is truly impossible for us to tell whether or not Obama or McCain will follow through with what they say. However, that is where faith needs to come in. For example, I have 0 faith in McCain, but a LOT of faith in Obama. That's my own personal choice. Whether or not Obama will actually follow through with his plans is unknown but I personally believe that he will. Also, Obama recognizes the underlying problems. He understands that for the past 8 years, this country has undergone a hell of lot of destruction. He knows that it won't be simple to just pick up the pieces and quickly mend thing; he realizes that it will be a long process that he will begin. Sure, he might not be able to work absolute miracles, but he can start us on a path to a better country. Countries cannot be mended in four years. Obama knows that. All intelligent people realize that. But all intelligent people also realize that mending a country has to begin SOMEWHERE - and that's a beginning that McCain is not willing to work on.
i dont see why anyone would have 'faith' in obama. he's changed his stances a bit and played the role of a politician, therefore i dont see any reason why anyone should have faith in him and its more than just the past administration, the past administration has made this country a worse place, but the very flaws in our government, society, media, foreign policy, etc. nobody has the guts to recognize that shit let alone stand up to us id say when the system is broken really badly, you cant really start a 'path' to change, you need to radically alter the whole landscape
If you think Obama is bad on changing stances, just look at McCain. At least Obama doesn't change his mind as drastically and frequently as McCain. You have to start somewhere. You can't just immediately radically alter the whole landscape, as you say. How is that possible? It just doesn't work that way. It will take a long time and a lot of effort to change our country; it's not just going to happen overnight.

I can see what both of you are saying. I think it's great to dream big because you won't get all the change you're trying to. At the same time, though, you can't just run up in there and ignore the operation. It'll take time.

its not about doing a 'lot' of things, it's about doing the right things. as much as some of ron paul's ideas are ridiculous and probably wouldn't work, he has the right idea on others. our foreign policy needs to be RADICALLY changed, unlike it has been since world war ii etc etc
