The picture of the light comes off as the best to me. Same principle as painted/drawn art IMO, your eye travels around the picture due to the pattern of shadows on the cieling.

Assuming this is a DSLR, on the picture with the remote, stop up a bit just to give it enough dept of field so the front of the remote is in focus. Nice start.
