How do you turn decimal places to minutes?

I need to turn 35.9 into degrees and minutes

What would that be?

I know that the 35 bit is the degrees but what about the .9?

1 degree = 60 minutes
so multiply the digits after the decimal by 60 minute/degree, degrees cancel
