i have applied for the government (sallie mae) loan. problem is, i havnt heard back from them yet and its been about 2 months, when i last called to get the stattius of the loan, they said they didnt know if my info for the coborrower was acceptable cause it wasnt the parent i last lived with. so now they dont know if they will need my moms info, and they said it will take a week or 2 to find out.

next, i applied for the astrive loan, but was denied because since my parents got a divorce, and my mom took all the money, my dad (the cosigner) has a negative income for 2006 tax returns. almost all the other loan programs will not give you a loan unless the cosigner has posative income for the past 2 years.

now the biggest problem of all. i have noone else to cosign for me, my mom wont, she wont give me any money, all my grandparents are dead, and my father forbid me to ask any of my other extended family to cosign for me. i am allready enrolled in college to start in january, and i need the money for housing, books and school supplise as well.
i dont know what to do. i need a loan, and i need it soon, like maybe by friday.
i have no idea what to do. help!

You didn't qualify for any Grants or anything from the school? How about any scholarships? I'm sure you can apply for one (fastweb, etc) BUT you won't have that by friday.

Maybe your dad can take out a loan at the bank or some other financial institution. I recommend try calling up your school and see if they can set up a payment plan that is more suitable to your income, because I'm sure they will be very accommodating.

i have applied to most every loan online, but they all need the coborrower to have 2 years of posative income verification. my dad said he wont take out a loan anywhere for me cause he says he cant afford it cause he thinks i wont pay it back (but i will, iv never not payed anyone back, and iv even lent money to my mom to pay the bills). the school is allready allowing me to defer my tuittion fees untill i get a loan, but how will i start school with no money for books and such

a lot of universities have student work programs. talk to your financial aid office. they can give you a short term loan (without a cosigner) and you can work for the university to pay it back. i did that... it was great!

Library! They have course reserve books, granted you would be there quite often but it beats buying up to $500 (or more) dollars in books ...

You can always photo copy, or get a job....to photocopy everything you need. I've had friends who've done that and have saved tons of money.
