So, I've heard many debates that cheerleading is a "sport" to some and to others not.

What are your opinions?

Not a sport, per se.

Definition of a sport:

1. Involves offense and defense (however abstract that may be). - This is what cheerleading does not adhere to.
2. Involves physical activity to the potential point of exhaustion.

No I do not believe golf is a sport. Yes, auto racing is - tangible, yet abstract, offense and defense is present in auto racing, and yes it's physically exhausting.

So then you would conclude that the 'field' half of "track and field" wouldn't be considered sports?

I think that cheerleading can be considered a sport. It takes a lot of work to be a competitive cheerleader. You don't see any fat girls running around do you? It takes target training and all the other aspects other sports need. Just because cheerleaders say "Go Team" doesn't make it less of a sport.

It is not a sport, but it is physically demanding, especially for very competitive teams.  It is a skill that takes practice, but definitely not a sport.

Someone earlier posted that a lot of cheerleaders are stuck up.  I would tend to agree with that.  I have no idea why, but for some reason they do tend to be stuck up and arrogant.
