I used cocoa butter and eucerin lotion to heal my scars. They fade away somewhat. As to cope with cutting just rub cold ice over where you usually cut. Or maybe use a rubber band.
------- I am what I am.

I have been cutting since I was 16, I am not 23 and I haven't SI in 4 months, however, I really want to. I was wondering what some of you do in order to cope with things? I am trying really hard not to, as I don't want my girlfriend to see the injuries/scars so I am trying to keep myself from doing it. I need advice...
I usually shoot rubber bands at walls or throw stress balls at walls. Writing in a journal or just writing about something, even if it doesn't relate to you in any way helps. I put all my sharps in a jar up in a really high place with a lock on it, and I'm too lazy to go and get them. The only down side to that is that I can't open mail very easy, etc. I also listen to very loud music in my room. Play frisbee with your dog/friend/a tree. Try to throw a boomerang -- and get it to come back to you. Read a book from when you were a kid, such as Junie B. Jones. Make lists of lists, look up lists online. Shop eBay. Write down inspiring/cool/hard to spell/hard to say words. Write them with a good amount of space between the letters and press hard with your pencil/pen. Look for pictures in the clouds/ceiling. Drink a ton of tea. Listen to an old old old cd. Get a pet rock and treat it like a dog/cat/ferret. Wow that's a lot. Sorry, I would've put them on different lines if I knew it was going to be that long.
