Is it worth it to try and join a fraternity your freshman year?
Compared to living off campus or in the dorms, what's the difference as far as life?

depends on the school. here theyre mostly about who has the most money and can bang the most rando girls, and who can get the best internships. the frats help with getting an internship

and our frats dont have frat houses. they just live in sections of the dorms

Most schools require the freshmen to live on campus anyway, but I don't thing fraternities are worth it at all. It's very expensive, and you're by no means exempt from the majority of frat activities if you don't join one.

Dorm life is beneficial to freshmen to freshmen because they're on campus, and therefore closer to campus resources (i.e., library, TA's office hours, etc).

I know that freaternity will guarantee you friends and a helpful society.  If you have trouble socializing with people, a fraternity might be for you, or if you like partying and drinking alot.  If you're a people person already and like a quieter life, a fraternity might not be for you.

Fraternity is not worth it if you're going to be studious and busy with work.

It's not worth it... It's like organized drinking... but you can attend their parties when you have time anyways, so not much reason to join.
