Well, I started university in September of last year. It was pretty nervewracking - I didn't know anybody and it was all a bit overwhelming, but everyone else is in your situation. I wouldn't worry too much about it, but it's natural you're a bit nervous. Here in England, the majority of universities have a freshers week, where, essentially, you spend a week meeting your tutors, getting introductions to your courses and partying. Regardless, everyone will be friendly, they're all new to the situation and I'm sure you'll be fine :) Ask if you have anymore questions!

I was so nervous, but it wasn't even nearly as bad as I expected! They had older students about EVERYWHERE to helps the first years. I went to my student apartments and was given my key and directions to my flat, and then I was shown to my flat by an older student. My other flatmates were already there, so I spent about 2 or 3 hours getting my stuff together, unpacking a few bits and pieces and getting to know my flatmates. The first week is a settling in period anyway for UK students, so I had the rest of my first day and week to take part in all the university organised events and talks. On my first day I met up with some new friends and went to dinner and then the pub for drinks. I then spent the evening with my new flatmates getting to know them. :] The rest of the week involved all the paper work - meeting my adviser, choosing my classes, attending a talk or two by the Principal and stuff like that. Then it was all party, party, party before I had my first lecture.
