because it tastes good. also, it helps you loosen up. its great for social situations. it makes it easier to talk to guys and lets admit it, everyone feels sexier when they're buzzed. i love the feeling. and if you know how to do it right, you won't get a hang over.

Beacuse it's part of the culture? Most people as students will drink excessive amounts of alochol on their three or so years at university or college, but as soon as they leave they don't drink so much, or at all. It just hightens the whole experience for most people, and if alcohol can make you do something that you couldn't have done when sober, like dance or chat someone up, then so what? As for those people who die due to alcohol related symptoms, so what? We all have to die one way, we can't ALL live till we're 100, the world can't support that. So more power too them, they got wasted one last time and didn't have to worry about the hangoover!

to be part of the "in" crowd... personally i tried to get drunk just to know how does it feel. i only got to the tipsy level and that's it for me.. social drinking i might indulge but not blindingly drunk.

Please...so is every pill you've ever taken. So is every soft drink you've ever drunk. So is every cosmetic you've ever put on your skin. Good thing our bodies have ways of dealing with "poison," huh?
Exactly. I know this. I drink. lol....I guess my point was that there is not really a BENEFIT to drinking. You know? I mean, pills are poison, but sometimes they can't be avoided because they are the only treatment for certain things. As for Chocolate, Soda, and the air we breathe they are poison too, but I don't think I could do without some candy here and there let alone live without air. 
How is getting drunk and having a fun time not a benefit?

some people drink to loosen up, to relieve themselves of problems.. i don't do that though, i have other means of relieving stress
